 Assistance with Disputes

It is important to ensure that the standards set by Statutory Regulatory Bodies (SRBs) in the profession of accounting  are in the public interest. Further standards set must be enforced to ensure fairness to all members.

All empowering Statutes for the SRBs require that codes of conduct and indeed rules of public practice be established by the general membership. This power cannot be delegated.   An SRB that fails to have the general membership approve rules of public practice are exposing the SRB to potential financial losses should the member be harmed, see Reach M_D_ Inc_ v_ Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Canada (May 29, 2003.) COURT OF APPEAL FOR ONTARIO

In order to ensure the interests of practitioners are being properly represented, we invite our members to use the legal services of CanMAPP when conflicts arise with your SRB.

Members need legal representation at all Disciplinary Committee hearings. This is in the best interests of first parties of the public interest, you the members.

Good rules practice rules come from aggressive challenges. Bad rules come from acquiescing. Please feel free to discuss your practice concerns with our staff, contact us by email at info@canmapp.ca.
