CGA Special Certification Program
Upon submission of the required documents and meeting the established criteria set by CGA Canada policy, members may qualify for a special certification process.
The CGA Program of professional studies continues to lead the profession in delivering cutting-edge certification standards, with delivery methods specifically designed to meet the learning requirements of candidates in public practice.
Assessment of a candidates performance in education, examination, and practical experience is a critical component of the CGA program of professional studies.
- Canadian CMAs certified under the old program (June 1992 exam and prior) may be granted access to the special certification process.
- Canadian CMAs certified prior to August 1998 are exempted from the university degree requirement.
The special certification process was established for entry by a graduate chartered accountant or certified management accountant with an active membership in good standing. This is a pilot project of CGA Canada and it has been implemented by several CGA Provincial Affiliates. This policy is in effect until June of 2006.

These course are designed to integrate and apply competencies, and to expose students to different perspectives of the profession. In addition to the PA1 and PA2 component, candidates may be required to complete two career option courses and the accompanying examinations.
